EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:

After completion of my studies at Stellenbosch commenced as Public Prosecutor in Windhoek with the Ministry of Justice in January 1989. Shortly thereafter I was transferred to Swakopmund where I was the only prosecutor for the Damaraland region. On the 5th of April 1991 I was admitted as advocate to the High Court of Namibia until January 1994 when I applied to be removed from the roll due to my enrolment as candidate attorney, firstly with Kinghorn Associates Legal Practitioner in Swakopmund and thereafter completing my internship with the then Theunissen van Wyk Legal Practitioner (today known as Theunissen, Louw & Partners).

During May 1991 I was appointed by the Department of Justice in South Africa as Public Prosecutor at the Magistrate’s Court Worcester. During the months February 1992 to the end of May 1992 I was appointed as Regional Court Prosecutor. In September 1992 I was transferred to Walvis Bay and appointed as Additional Magistrate for the district of Walvis Bay with effect from the 1st of October 1992 until December 1993.

On the 3rd of January 1994 I enrolled as a candidate legal practitioner with the firm Kinghorn Associates in Swakopmund. During November of the same year I requested a transfer to the firm Theunissen van Wyk legal practitioners in Windhoek where I completed my internship and was enrolled as legal practitioner on the 14th of June 1996.

During March 1996 the firm Theunissen, Van Wyk & Partners “dissolved” and I proceeded to practice under the name and style of Van Wyk, Maritz Attorney’s. I subsequently left the firm Van Wyk & Maritz towards the end of November 1996 as I was offered the opportunity to join a family tourism venture where I was employed as manager until October 1997 when I decided to return to a legal career. The experienced gained in the tourism trade furthered and broadened my experience in dealing with various nationalities and personalities. This experience was often for long hours and under severe pressure to which I was used due to my previous legal experience.

I returned to the legal profession in February 1998 and commenced employment with Gert H Olivier Associates in Walvis Bay. I became a partner with same on the 1st of June 2001 until May 2006 when I decided to relocate to Windhoek.

I commenced employment with Erasmus Associates as general legal practitioner for the period May 2006 until 31st of August 2007.

During the period September 2007 up to 31st of March 2011 I practised under the name and style of Stephen F Kenny Legal Practitioners as general legal practitioner in Windhoek.

During March 2011 I received an offer to incorporate Stephen F Kenny Legal Practitioners with Theunissen, Louw & Partners which I accepted. I have mainly been dealing with High Court litigation since April 2011 to date hereof.
